Area under Jurisdiction
Tamil Nadu (30 districts with 5 National Parks, eight Wildlife Sanctuaries, One Tiger Reserve ), Karnataka (Eight districts of southern part with three National Parks and Six Wildlife Sanctuaries ), Southern part of Andhra Pradesh, Union Territory of Puduchery (Pondichery). Two Biosphere Reserves fall within the jurisdiction of the station.

Publications
The Scientists of the Southern Regional Station have published a total of 498 scientific papers, books, occasional papers & popular articles in reputed Indian and International journals.

Museum
Displayed are regionally relevant taxa of animals for the benefit of educational institutions, researchers and interested public.

Library
The station´s library houses around 4459 books, the most coveted being the Zoological Records, which is the most sought after journal by research scholars of Chennai and other Universities.
